My mini-step challenge

Ok, I've decided to put the rest of my Partypoker money on Mini-steps. I have enough for 9 step 1 buyins, and I still have a freeroll to step 2. I'm going to start 4-tabling step 1 to get back on my grind while I'm looking for a job. I'll be updating every couple of days or so for anyone who wants to see how its coming along. My goal is to get 2 step 5s out of this, which should be a challenge, but I can do it. Who knows, I may go on a tear and get more than 2. I feel like I am one of the best SNG players at the Mini-steps, and I know how to play them well. Wish me luck and I'll keep the updates coming......

Not a whole lot of poker lately

I've been looking for a job for a while now, and haven't been playing a whole lot of poker. I had an interview Monday which I thought went well, but didn't hear back later that day or Tuesday, which is when I was told they would call me. I called them today and left the secretary a message, so hopefully I still have a chance. This particular position is for AIG being an Insurance Agent, which has nothing to do with my major. The guy who interviewed me is the general manager and seemed to like me, so I still have my fingers crossed about that one.

On the poker front, I've played very little. When I have played online, its been the Mini Steps on Partypoker. I started with a whopping $30, which is 5 buyins to step 1, and eventually worked my way all the way up to Step 5. I've only been to Step 5 one other time, which was last year when I tried the Mini Steps out. The payout structure is 1st-$2,000, 2nd-$1,000, 3rd-$500, 4th-$300, 5th-$200... and of course there are 10 players because its a SNG. The last time I was at Step 5, I won it. $2,000 was nice to win in a SNG, and here I was with another chance a few days ago. Well, this time was the opposite... I finished 10th out of 10. It was a nasty feeling, being that close and getting nothing, but it happens. Now I'm grinding the steps again, sittin at Step 3 and trying to move up. Hopefully I can make something happen because I could use some extra cash to help out until I get a job. If I get a job soon, I will be able to try to build my poker bankroll on the side, which would be nice because I wouldn't have to take any out for rent and bills and stuff. I just figured I'd update because it has been a while. Hopefully next time I update I'll have some good news about a job.
