hmmmmm....

Its looking like it will be very tough for me to make that 500 sngs by the end of the year. After a small session of 19 today, I'm only at, I think, 240. I'm not sure of all the numbers because I'm on my Dad's desktop right now and not my laptop, where all my PT3 stuff is. I think I won around $65 in the session today. Lost a few A-big vs A-rag allin preflop for some pretty big pots in some early games, but I stayed with it and pulled out a winner. I think my ROI over the 240 games is around 7% now. Like I said, it's doubtful I'll finish all 500 by Wednesday. If I don't, I'll definitely finish by the time I go back to Kennesaw Sunday night. Its just with spending time with my friends, family, and Stephanie lately, I haven't found much time to play. Which is fine with me, because those are more important to me. So anyways, tonight I'm playing in the $80 tourney (home game) that I used to play in regularly. There is a 1/2 NL cash game afterwards. If I bust in the tourney, I'll just try my luck shortstacking the cash game with like $40. Action is there, so hopefully I can pick up a big hand early and quadruple up or something.. lol. And congrats to Alex for making it deep in the 5,000 FPP Pokerstars Million Turbo Takedown yesterday. I believe he finished 50something for like $625. I know it has to be heartbreaking though, since first was a cool $100k. To make it that deep though through a 9500 player field, outlasting 99.5% or so of the field, is an achievement in itself. He'll have many bigger cashes to come though. K I'm out...

roller coaster session...

Was down a few buyins off the bat, but grinded back for a $117 win after 45 sngs. I love it when the players complain that I'm going all in every other hand instead of seeing a flop and playing "real" poker, and its like 3 or 4 handed and the avg stack is 8 to 10 big blinds. lol. Sorry. Just keep folding to me. Totals so far:

Played = 221
Profit = $158.20
ROI = 5.51%

I've played 90 in the past 2 days, which is pretty good for me. Well thats all for tonight. Probably won't play again until after Christmas.

worst night so far for 6-max...

Horrible night. I ran very badly. Not really card dead, but my big hands lost alot. I lost many 80/20s, tons and tons of flips, and just got sucked out on alot. I think I played ok. May have made a couple of bad plays because of a little bit of tilt, but for the most part I kept playing my game. I know I'm complaining, but man... That's the last 3 out of 4 sessions losing pretty bad.. and this one was the worst. My last session was 7 cashes in a row, and I stopped... in this session I had a string of 12 in a row not cashing. I haven't gotten as mad as I did when I was playing tonight in a long time. I literally wanted to throw my lap top off the balcony into the road. I think out of all the sessions, including mtts, sngs, and cash games, this was probably the most ridiculous one I have had since I've been playing poker. And I'm not just saying that because I'm feeling tilted right now. That is the honest truth. Ok.. end of rant. Lost a little under $200 on the night, or about 15 buyins. Sick... Played 45. I read the STT (single table tournament) forum on 2+2 alot, and I know these downswings are common, so I'll just have to keep on grinding. So my totals so far are:

Played = 176
Profit = $41.20
ROI = 1.80%

As bad as it looks so far, I can still make it to $750 in 324 more games. I'll have to run at 14-15% from here on out though. Good luck to me.. I'll need it.

lol

Tiny session tonight. I was running good in my first (and only) session, and I'm kinda tired, so I cut it short tonight after a pretty good run. Went 7 for 7 cashing, with 4 1sts and 3 2nds. I sucked out a couple times, my hands held when I was ahead, and I won flips. It was nice. +$171.80 for the night. Stats so far:

Played = 131
Profit = $233.80
ROI = 13.73%

I'm off work from Christmas through Jan 4th, so if I slack off a little bit (like tonight), hopefully I can still catch up next week.

- Brandon

downswing continues...

39 played for -$73 yesterday.. even after 2 losing sessions in a row, I still only have 5 losing sessions in 6-max sngs out of 20 total sessions. Hopefully I'll make that 5 out of 21 tonight. Results for my 500 sng goal so far:

Played = 124
Profit = $62.00
ROI = 3.85%

Need to run better.

Tuesday, December 16, 2008

ran bad tonight....

Played 40, -$84.40..... I've been expecting a bad day or 2 sooner or later though.

Totals so far for $13s:

played = 86
profit = $124.00
ROI = 11.09%

414 left to play by the 31st.

- Brandon

trying to get back to the grind...

I had already played 19 $13s before I said I want to win $650 in 500 sngs, so to make it easier to track, I'll just make that 19 a part of the 500. And since I won about $100 in them, I'll raise the goal to $750. This just makes it easier for me to track. So far....

Played = 46
Profit = $208.40
ROI = 34.85%

Left to play by Dec 31st = 454
Left to profit by Dec 31st = $541.60

If I can run at about 10% for the rest of the month, I should be fine. Hopefully I can run hotter and finish early.

500 sngs by dec 31st...

for starters, i have no idea why we hired gene chizik at auburn. he was a good defensive coordinator, but does he have what it takes to be head coach? i understand he didnt have very good recruiting possibilities when he went 5-19 the last 2 years cause he was at iowa st, and i know 2 years isnt enough time to get all your players in, but still...is he a better fit than gill or patterson? only time will tell i guess... blahh... dont really have much else to say about that..

now for a little poker.. im setting a modest goal of playing 500 sngs between now and the end of the year. if i run at 10 percent roi i will be able to move up for the start of next year. if i run better, i can move up sooner. it all depends on when i get to 50 buyins for the next level. well its hard typing alot on my pda from work, so ill keep it short. ill update every couple of days with my progress....

Small session of $13s

Played a small session of 19 $13s while I was playing in a couple MTTs (shallow cashed in one of them for like $5 lol)... I started off pretty bad but ended up winning about $110 or so in the sngs. I thought this was pretty funny... tonight's lesson is.... it aint over till its over!! doesn't he know im a shortstack ninja?? see the bolded statement in the second hand history. (i left out some of the hands where i took the blinds) enjoy...

$650 reached...

I'll either take a long break and start the $13s Monday, or I'll dive right in tomorrow... not quite sure yet. Here are my total stats for the $6.50s.

Played = 292
1st = 55
2nd = 81
ITM = 46.58%
Profit = $409.60
ROI = 21.58%

Bankroll = $654.49

I'm done for the night.

- Brandon

$36.31...

That's how much more I have to make until I will let myself move up to $13 6-max turbo. I set $650 as the mark. Not optimal, but I think 50 buy-ins is enough for stakes that low as long as I don't run terribly. As I move up in stakes a little more, I will add more padding to my roll (at least 100 buy-ins when I get to the $25+ level). Until then, gamboooool. I'll update as soon as I make $650.

Been a while...

Its been a while since I've last updated. I keep saying I'm going to update more often, but just never get around to it.

Well, after going 5-7 this year, Tuberville is out at Auburn. There is controversy surrounding exactly what happened, whether or not he quit or was forced out. To me, it seems obvious that you don't pay a $5 million buy-out to your head coach if he quits. I, along with the majority of fans/students, believe he was forced out. We've talked to a few prospects already, so who knows who we'll end up with. I really wish we could pick up Muschamp from Texas, but there is very slim hope of that happening... oh well. Good luck to us.

As far as poker goes, I haven't been playing as much as I should have been lately. I have been keeping track of all my play through pokertracker though. My roll has been steadily creeping up lately, and hopefully I'll make the switch to $13 6-max sngs next week. The $6.50s have been going really well for the most part. I've come out about even in MTTs and up $77 from FPP sattys, but here are my stats from just 6.50s....

Played = 259
1st = 47
2nd = 71
ITM = 45.56%
Profit = $310.90
ROI = 18.47%

I have a nice ROI so far, and my ITM% is really good too. I don't like how I have so much more 2nds than 1sts, but maybe that shows that my first priority is to make the money first?? I dunno, the sample size isn't big enough to draw any firm conclusions. I know I've ran kinda bad HU, but alot of times I do find myself the short-stack when HU play begins. I'm not too worried about it though. All I had to do was have a decent final session of 32 sngs saturday morning to make top 10 on the high orbit Battle of the Planets leaderboard for Venus, but I had a slight losing session and didn't make it.. oh well. Well, I'm about to grind out some more 6.50s, thats all for now.
