update...

Auburn

Well, we almost pulled it off against Georgia. I think we played well for the most part, but we just couldn't get it done. I have stuck up for Tuberville all season long, but I think I may be changing my mind now. Some of the play calling was just horrible Saturday. Fannin has 2 TDs and is on fire, but we take him out on the final drive? He wasn't hurt or tired or anything, we just put Tate in instead?? I mean, nothing against Tate, but why change something that works? And going for the end zone on 4th and 2? Ughh... there were a few other calls that I, along with the majority of AU fans, thought was just bad, but oh well. We came close. Maybe it is finally time for Tubby to go though. We have to upset a #1 ranked Alabama team in 2 weeks to get a bowl bid. I'm sure if we can pull off a huge upset, Tubby will probably be fine. I wonder what will happen to him if we lose though...

SNGs

Well once again I took a shot at playing above my bankroll, and had a horrible day. So I'm left with between 30 and 40 buyins back at $6.50s now. I'm going to switch it up a little and play the 6-mans though. Maybe I can get something going. If not, I could go busto for the first time in a while. Good luck to me.

100th post!!!

A little history...

Well, after 3 years, I've reached my 100th blog post. I was looking back at some of the old stuff, and I see how much I have grown as a poker player, and also how online poker has changed alot in the last 3 years. In the beginning, the goal was to play poker as my main source of income. Well, like 95% of the players who try that, I never really got it going. I did use poker as my only income for about a year or so, but I wasn't ready.

Its not that I wasn't playing well, although I'm sure my game is much stronger now, but I was really just unprepared in 2 ways. One, I wasn't very well rolled to begin with. And the other thing, which I think is much more significant than the other, is that I think I was emotionally unprepared. The mental strain of grinding it out all the time, playing the same game.. it gets boring, and it causes you to not only play bad, but to feel worthless sometimes. I would get up at like 1:00 or 2:00 every day.. Play a bit.. Do nothing.. play more.. do nothing.. maybe try to go out at night.. come home and play again.. go to bed at like 3:00 or 4:00.. It got old quickly. And the first big swing I had killed me. I lost over $1,000 in 1 day at 5/10 limit. That is 100 big bets. And being under-rolled, it hurt even more. So I couldn't really handle it, and have been working "real" jobs ever since.

I've continued to play as side income, and I've been doing fairly well lately, although I'm playing for small amounts of money. Maybe one day I'll be able to play poker for a living, but my mind isn't so set on it anymore. Okay, that turned into a big ramble, but I figured I would throw all that out there, since this is, in fact, my 100th blog post!!! lol ok enough of that...

Okay, now, some recent poker stuff

Well, of course I got tired of playing the double-or-nothings on stars... you know me!! I am enjoying switching it up from time to time though.. If I don't, I think I'll get too bored and sloppy. I did make a few hundred at the $10 level DONs, and since I don't want to add up my numbers right now, I'll guess. I probably played about 400 to 450 $10s, and I think my ROI was around 8-10%. I tried to make the jump to $20s too soon, and ran hot the first night, but lost $250 the next, dropping my roll back down to a whopping $329 loooooooooool.. Well, of course we all know what I have to go back to when my roll is in jeopardy.. my bread and butter.. good ol 9-man sngs. But this time, I'm playing turbos. I started with about 50 buyins at the $6.50 level today. I played 65 of them today, and finished up about $80. Thats an ROI of 19%. Small sample size though obv. So now I'll be grinding my way back up in sngs again I guess... What is really STUPID about the turbos on stars is that the buyins jump from 6.50 to 16.. There is no 12 or anything. I don't really like this, as I will have to stick to the 6.50s for a bit longer that I would like to, assuming I grind my roll up successfully. Oh well, it is what it is.

And oooooh yeah. Not sure if I posted this before, but I'm not going to check so I'll just post it again if need be. I realized that I had a Step 2 and 5 Step 1s left over from the PCA last year, and decided I may as well try to work my way up. I saw that now you can win a seat in the Sunday 500k or the Tuesday Special (I will never play the Tuesday) via Step 4. I worked my way up and had a Step 4 ticket, but wanted to try something first. Since they let you win seats to these tourneys, and the step 4 buyin is the same amount as the buyin for the Mill and other big Sunday tourneys ($215), maybe they would accept the step 4 ticket as a buyin too?? Well I went to see if I could by clicking on register for the Mill, and BING!! It lets you use the tickets. Soooo I have a $215 buyin to whatever tourney I wanna play now, and I still have 2 step 2s to try to build up. yay. okay rambling again. I'm tired, thats all for tonight. Going to AU vs Tenn. Martin homecoming game Saturday. Maybe we can beat a high school team. WAR EAGLE!!!!!
